TDSB Schools "Take the Lead"

Join The Dance Canada , The Destiny Foundation and Destiny Group of Companies have joined forces to bring Ballroom and Latin dance to Toronto District School Board (TDSB) classrooms. Dancing Classrooms™ will commence first in six schools as a special character education initiative approved by the TDSB. Dancing Classrooms originated in New York City by world renowned dance instructor Pierre Dulaine, the subject of the documentary Mad Hot Ballroom and the film Take the Lead.

The innovative character education program has been hailed as a major success in helping to build "civility, respect, teamwork, co-ordination and dignity" for thousands of children throughout the United States. Join The Dance Canada, and major sponsor David Singh, President and CEO of Destiny Group of Companies, are confident of the same success in Canada.

Dulaine will arrive in Toronto on March 2, 2007 to begin training the 14 dance artists and TDSB classroom teachers who will instruct the enthusiastic Grade 5 and 6 students.

Join The Dance Canada is a not-for-profit organization established to bring innovative Character Development programs that use dance as a tool to help youth and children enhance their self-esteem and confidence, and also to learn the value of team work, gender respect and an appreciation for the differences in others.

A gala evening to launch Toronto's first Dancing Classrooms will take place on March 10, 2007, at 6:30 p.m. at La Vita Banquet Hall, 4000 Steeles Avenue West, (Hyw7/east of Jane),Woodbridge, Ontario.
